Technology Ruins A Snow Day!

Remember the good old days when your parents had to watch TV and wait for your school closing to roll across the bottom of the screen during the morning news? Technology sure has taken away the crazy, fun, anticipation of a snow day, right? Cell phones, texts, and emails have made it so easy, yet INSANELY ANNOYING at the same time!

Snow Days (er, ice days) mean the kids and I get to sleep in! I actually enjoy it way more than the kids! I get the call, high five myself and go back to sleep…

NOT TODAY, friends, NOT TODAY…

5:37AM-school calls to let me know there’s a two hour delay due to icy conditions…I silently rejoice & go back to sleep!

5:39AM-Beeps and buzzes dinging and ringing (one for text, one for email) to let me know there’s a two hour delay due to icy conditions…UGH! I got the memo, thanks! I drift off…

5:47AM-school calls to let me know there’s a two hour delay due to icy conditions (apparently the 1st call waking me up wasn’t suffice).

5:48AM-Beeps and buzzes dinging and ringing AGAIN (one for text, one for email) to let me know AGAIN there’s a two hour delay due to icy conditions. Really, I get it!

SIX notifications in 11 minutes to let me know school is on a two hour delay due to icy conditions! Honestly, I get the point. It’s frickin icy out and school will be on a two hour delay!

…I can’t go back to sleep. I play Trivia Crack (there’s a reason it’s called crack, people) for about an hour and then decide I really should go back to sleep (why not?)

I finally fall back asleep! I’m in the middle of a REALLY good dream!

7:53AM-I get a call letting me know school is closed today due to inclement weather…SERIOUSLY?!?!

7:54AM-Beeps and buzzes dinging and ringing AGAIN (one for text, one for email) to let me know school is closed today due to inclement weather.

Yep…school is closed today. Kids and dog are still sleeping and I’m wide awake! Thanks technology! Love, me.
